Increasing muscle and size
Increasing your muscle size is not as easy as just visiting the gym three times a week. Nutrition is a very important catalyst for muscle growth. Some experts say that nutrition plays the most important role in muscular development and at ISO2 Nutrition we agree.
Looking at resistance training and your diet as a ratio, 80% of your success will come from eating correctly and 20% from training correctly. Without a good diet you are wasting your time and in some instances you can lose muscle with a bad diet.
If you are serious about training and want to step on the scales in a few months with an extra 5 to 10 pounds of lean muscle, bigger arms, chest, legs and wider shoulders then read on....
What are weight gainers & protein powders?
First and foremost, what is your goal? If you are looking for a well balanced toned physique you need to eat correctly and gaining weight for some people can be very difficult. If you regularly train hard in the gym and eat a well balanced diet but struggle to gain any weight, it can be very frustrating and one of the main reasons people quit training. Well, don’t panic you are not alone and the solution is very simple.
To increase your weight you need to consume more calories than you burn in a day. If you have a fast metabolism even eating 5 to 6 small meals is not enough. This is where a good quality weight gainer or protein supplement helps. Weight gainers will provide you with the added calories needed for weight gain and they are very convenient by offering all the nutrients of a well balanced meal.
Now the easy part is to supplement your diet with a weight gainer and the hard part is to find the right one for you. At ISO2 Nutrition we have chosen to manufacture a premium quality weight gainer with low glycemic index (GI) carbohydrates and high quality proteins. There are cheaper weight gain formulas out there but they are mostly made up of simple sugars. Without getting too technical, simple sugars are a great source of high calories but these calories are the wrong calories and lead to unwanted fat gains. Our bodies use fat reserves as an energy source when consuming low GI foods so if we take in simple sugars then the body stops using fat as energy. This will lead to gains in fat mass which is not ideal if you want the perfect beach body.
Low GI carbohydrates do not stop the body using its own fat cells as energy and allows the body to get the needed calories whilst still burning fat. Admittedly the calories from low GI foods are not as high, however they are of a better quality and lead to lean muscle growth.
What are the benefits of weight gainers and protein powders?
When you first start training, the first few years will be when you make your best gains. When supplementing your training program with a good weight gainer you could experience dramatic gains in muscle size and strength. Eat your normal 3 to 4 meals a day and supplement with ISO2 Nutrition’s Mass Gainer before and after training. Split your serving into two servings to start with by taking one 45 minutes before training and one immediately afterwards. This will provide the body with optimum nutrients before and after training aiding your workout and recovery time.
Should you use a weight gainer or protein powder?
If you have a fast metabolic rate or you struggle to gain weight then a weight gain formula is the best option for you. Remember to adjust your diet in small increments and you will find it easier to manage that way. These small adjustments will allow you to see what is working and what is not. |
